4D Heritage is re-imagining the heritage experience, pioneering the use of agile, non-invasive technology to monitor and document fragile ecosystems and endangered sites. By these means we are opening up new avenues of research, involving local community outreach, education and advocacy.

Approaches include:

1. Visible image capture with both a standard and compact drone, using enhanced ground control points - improving the agility and speed of data capture.

2. LIDAR and terrestrial laser scanning - for increased accuracy.

3. Immersive 360 Imaging to provide contextual / situational awareness at the site.

4. Multispectral imaging to reveal items of importance invisible to the naked eye, such as IR for damp, heat loss and vegetation growth

Modelling

3D models can be brought to life as 3D prints, rendered either in virtual or augmented reality, bringing together the digital and the physical worlds.

Virtual reality (VR)  can create compelling and interactive reconstructions. It can also play a valuable role in both induction training for professionals through to a richer classroom experience for school children.

With developments in browser technology, millions of Android and iOS devices are now able to provide augmented reality experiences.
